10 Musts to Stay Healthy This Winter Season

'Tis the season to catch a cold, the flu, a bug, scarlet fever, you name it... So, let's do a little preventive maintenance to ward off any kinda ailment predators creeping about. If you do start getting ill, these are natural, affordable things you can try to nip sickness in the bud. First and for most, pray over yourself.. Jesus heals!!

1. Get plenty of sleep (8-10 hours). 2Bit can totally speak from experience.
*Studies have shown "Poor sleep habits and susceptibility to colds go together. In a recent study published in The Archives of Internal Medicine, scientists exposed two groups to cold viruses. In the otherwise identical groups, the scientists found that those who had gotten less than seven hours of sleep a night over the previous two weeks were three times as likely to get sick as those who’d averaged at least 8 hours. In other studies, researchers have found that species that sleep more have a greater resistance to viruses and bacteria. These findings appear to go hand-in-hand with findings that mammals needing the most sleep produce higher levels of disease-fighting white blood cells."- Dr.Prescott

2. Sugar is the worst thing for our immune system. If you are feeling the slightest cold or sore throat coming on, avoid foods/soda high in sugar, at least until it passes. 2Bit knows it's the season of delectable treats, but count your costs.

3. While on the subject of the immune system, Echinacea boosts your immune system. A cup of Echinacea tea is excellent for you.

4. Drink lots of water. Especially with the heat on and this cold weather, you're bound to dry out. Hydration is key! (A water humidifier in your bed room while you sleep is a winter essential.)

5. Go ahead and invest in some Emergen-C packs. They are like 9 dolla at Wal-mart & Kroger. Worth every penny. I drink one almost every day in the winter and if ever I feel a sore throat coming on, I start doubling up on them every hour. No joke. Raspberry is the best! *"This powder supplement is praised by reviewers for many reasons, including its mega- dose of vitamin C, its assistance to the immune system, its many flavors, its ease of preparation, and the added energy that it brings to a sluggish day." *-viewpoints.com
6. Try to get your suggested daily servings of veggies, and that's not Mama D's over-cooked green beans & bacon. Ain't no nutrients in there. We trying to build your immune system up, peeps!!

7. If you have a stuffy nose or any kind of phlem, avoid dairy as it cause congestion and mucus build up.

8. If you do have a sore throat, gargling with salt water provides relief, just make sure you wait a while before you drink something or else you just diluted the salt's power.

9. Sweating helps shed toxins that have accumulated in our bodies, so a good work out or hot yoga would be beneficial to keep your body in tip top shape, esp. in winter when we get fewer chances to sweat. http://www.themassagecenter.org/yoga_classes.html or www.BikramYogaLexington.com

10. This last must, I personally have never done, but my family has and many ppl swear by it. It's called the Neti Pot and it thins mucus to help flush it out of the nasal passages. If for no other reason, use the neti pot because...
